Hi, I’m Donna, the heart behind The Village Homestead and Cumberland Perfect Sleep. My journey into natural wellness started long before I ever thought of making soaps, tinctures, or buckwheat pillows. When I was just 12, my mum was diagnosed with breast cancer. She fought it three times in her life, and through her, I learned the value of real food, natural remedies, and being ahead of the curve on what it means to live well. She was organic before “organic” was even a thing.
Those lessons stuck with me. Over the years, I’ve farmed, canned, foraged, and fallen asleep with my nose in herbal books. What started during COVID as a way to stay busy making soap, diving deep into herbs; grew into a passion and a calling. I discovered just how powerful plants are at supporting our health and how much people need real, trustworthy options in a world full of toxins and shortcuts.
Today, I pour that passion into everything I make: tinctures, teas, skincare, and our incredible buckwheat pillows. Nothing makes me happier than hearing from someone who says, “This helped me sleep,” or “This cleared my eczema,” or “This just made me feel better.” That’s what drives me; creating natural solutions that actually work.
For me, this is more than a business. It’s a legacy from my mum, something I’m passing to my son, and a way to offer people a little more wellness and comfort in their lives.
